Focus on the positve, right? February 19, 2014
I will admit to having a bit of a pity party lately, though when you look at the big picture it’s all manageable in one form or fashion. I share this information because it has made me a (more) horrible friend as of late.

Why do we tend to shy away from those who care for us right around the time they are needed most? It makes zero sense to purposefully make yourself LESS available when times are tough, though the need to hole-up and sulk seems to always get the best of us. Weird, right?

ANYWAY, just putting this out there in the Interwebs so I can maybe put this self-pity to bed. Kind of like writing a heated letter to the editor or love letter then throwing them away, though, the Internet is forever. We shall see…

Super Bowl Sunday February 2, 2014
Welp, the day has finally arrived for all football fans out there…Super Bowl XLVIII. It’s always with a sense of sadness I watch this annual event, given that football season is my favorite (apologies to Ryan Burke and the Texas Rangers) and the game has not included the Dallas Cowboys in forEVER. No, I do not expect that last fact to change anytime soon, so no additional comments are necessary.

However, spending the afternoon with friends definitely makes things all the better, esp. when you don’t have any skin in the game and plenty of tasty beverages and food items available. Regardless of who wins today’s game, I am expecting a good time and new memories to be made.

Let’s go Broncos! *gotta pick one of the teams to root for, right?

McConaughey just blew my mind… January 28, 2014

While watching HBO’s “True Detective,” Season 1, Episode 3, McConaughey’s character, Cohle, spoke a phrase that simply yet effectively described my entire outlook on life, love and the pursuit of happiness. Kinda’a scary, I know, but here it is in a nutshell…

The lead female character, Maggie, asks Cohle why men make things(relationships) so difficult by not taking advantage of what’s right in front of them. To which he says (and this is it, btw)…

“It’s because we know what we want, and don’t mind being alone.”

Mind…officially…blown…

Thankfully it’s over, or have we just begun? December 2, 2013
Well, the holiday season is fully “engaged” and that’s a good thing… I think.

With the late Thanksgiving, Christmas preparations have shifted into high-gear. Now, that doesn’t mean MY holiday activities have increased, just an observation of my surroundings. I like to take a “wait-and-see” approach, letting the game come to me, if you will. In other words, I’m lazy.

While other people are busily decorating their homes, assembling trees and wrapping the gifts with care, I am attempting to make a list of folks to send Christmas cards. And trust me, that takes a significant amount of effort. Sure, I WANT to send holiday greetings to my friends and family but the will is weak. Like I said, lazy. Not certain exactly where this lack of holiday enthusiasm came from, as my sainted mother was always good about getting ahead of the game, including me and my sisters in the pre- and post-holiday festivities and promoting a spiritual understanding and appreciation of Christmas. But for some reason, it didn’t stick.

So the clock is ticking, 3 weeks and counting, and this is the week to get my ass in gear and prove to myself and everyone else that I can embrace the holiday spirit. Grab it, squeeze it, love it and share it, dammit! We shall see how things turn out, right?

Happy Holidays!!!

WOW, has it been a while… October 30, 2013
There is no real excuse for exactly why I have not posted to my personal website in over a year, besides the fact it just was not all that important to my day-to-day activities.

There, I’ve said it.

I would like to also say that it is my full intention to have more regular posts, but that would be a lie. With so many social media methods of “staying in-touch” with my friends and family, making my own website posts just doesn’t hold as much weight. Ugh, that sounds terrible to say out-loud but it’s true.

So, let’s just assume that nobody is really following this website and that my lack of daily commenting will not bring the Earth to a halt, and go from there.

All that said, I hope this posting finds you well and let’s all pray for a successful 2013-14 Mavericks season.

Sláinte!
